Report misconduct
CILGD is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in local governance and development. If you have evidence that a member, certified professional, or affiliated institution has breached the Code of Conduct, you may submit a formal report to the Institute.
How to submit a report
All reports of misconduct, ethical breaches, or misuse of CILGD credentials are treated with strict confidentiality. To file a report, please contact us directly via the official email address.
Please include:
- The name of the individual or institution.
- A detailed description of the alleged misconduct.
- The date(s) and location(s) of the alleged conduct, if known.
- Any supporting evidence or documentation.
- Your contact details (or a request to remain anonymous).

Reports are received only by authorised members of the Institute. The identity of a complainant is not disclosed to the subject of a complaint without the complainant’s prior consent, except where the Institute is compelled to do so by law or by an order of a competent authority.
Whistleblower protection
The Institute strictly prohibits retaliation. No Member, Officer, Staff, or member of the public shall suffer retaliation, victimization, or harassment for reporting in good faith any misconduct, financial irregularity, ethical breach, or governance violation within or related to the Institute.
What we cannot investigate
The Institute’s disciplinary jurisdiction extends to its members, certified professionals, and affiliated institutions. Allegations against parties outside this jurisdiction may be referred to the appropriate regulator, professional body, or competent authority. Criminal matters should be reported to the relevant law-enforcement agency.
