Report Professional Misconduct

The Chartered Institute is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability in local governance. If you possess credible evidence that a registered CILGD member, certified professional, or affiliated institution has breached the Code of Conduct or Code of Ethics, you may submit a formal report to our Professional Standards team.

Intake Expectations & Evidence Requirements

To ensure a fair, rigorous, and compliant review under our Disciplinary Procedure, all submissions must contain factual evidence. Anonymous reports are accepted, but they may limit our ability to investigate or seek clarifications.

Please ensure your written submission includes:

  • The full, legal name of the individual or the specific institution involved.
  • A detailed, sequential description of the alleged professional misconduct or breach.
  • The exact date(s), location(s), and local authority/ministry context of the occurrence.
  • Any supporting evidence (such as official documents, emails, verified statements, or public records).
  • Your preferred contact details, or an explicit request for anonymous handling under our protection policies.

Responsible Disclosure & Confidentiality

Reports are received and processed exclusively by authorized investigators within the Professional Standards team. The identity of a complainant is kept strictly confidential and is not disclosed to the subject of a complaint without the complainant's explicit prior consent, except where the Institute is compelled to do so under statutory legal obligations.

Whistleblower Protection & Anti-Retaliation Policy

The Institute strictly prohibits any form of retaliation, victimization, or harassment against any Member, Officer, or member of the public who reports an ethical breach in good faith. Any retaliatory action taken by a member under investigation constitutes a severe independent disciplinary offense.

Scope of Disciplinary Jurisdiction

CILGD’s disciplinary jurisdiction extends exclusively to its registered members, certified professionals, and accredited institutions. The Institute cannot adjudicate commercial disputes, employments contracts, or investigate individuals outside its membership directory. Allegations of criminal behavior or public-resource theft should be reported directly to competent law-enforcement and anti-corruption agencies in the relevant jurisdiction.
